saw these in sears today and they appear to be exclusive ..unfortunately there wasnt any specific audio options listed and they were 24.99.
if anyone has them or picks them up can you give some feedback on how the discs are, foreigner and the best of soundstage specifically
(If i have to listen to ya mo be there one more time, ima ya mo burn this place to the ground )

Are you certain these were Blu-Ray? You posted in the Blu-Ray Software Forum so I assume you either thought they were Blu-Ray or you posted on the wrong thread.
I believe that the Foreigner appearance on Soundstage pre-dated PBS' broadcasts in HD, so I question whether the disk is Blu-Ray.
Here are the available SD DVDs from the official Soundstage web site:

yes they were blu rays.
they were definitely exclusive to sears as on the back there was a sears logo. go to your local sears and check the endcaps, there was a cardboard holder that had about 7 copies of each....no mention of video or audio specs, and like i said they were ringing up 24.99 each so i wasnt going to take the plunge

Saw Michael McDonald with Steely Dan a couple years back and he was great! Might have to go to Sears and check this out.

From that picture, it appears to be the Kelly Hansen fronted incarnation of Foreigner. I've seen this band, and he does a decent job, but I would be much more interested in a Blu-Ray release of a concert from when Lou Gramm was still in the band. Not sure what is out there in the way of pro-recorded classic Foreigner.

I think I am going to pick up 'best of' tomorrow with Wanted if they have it in stock. I haven't been inside a Sears for at least 5 years so we shall see. The last thing I remember buying was a Dreamcast there.. In 2000.

Got is as promised..
Video is VC1/1080i. Audio is 24bit 5.1 PCM, 24bit 2.0 PCM and 640 5.1DD. It is on a 25GB disc and fills nearly the whole thing. It also 1h23min so the bitrate is pretty high. New AACS so I can't use BDInfo on it.
Looks good and sounds good as expected. This feels like a Sony BMG encode to me..
The cover looks worse than my ink jet printer could do. Wish I paid less for this though, $25 is too much. If I paid $15 I would be completely happy, I mean I got Wanted for $20 on release day.

I had the Michael McDonald disc in my hand, but the lack of info on the audio and the overall cheap look of the packaging made me put it back.

There are 2 BR Soundstage discs other than Sears. Jewel & Sheryl Crow. I saw the KT Tunstall show at the Chicago Soundstage studio. Incredible experience, the HD cameras they have for recording are incredible.

yeah i wish they wouldnt have cancelled the tom petty one, as that was the one i was looking the most forward too. its weird that those arent exclusive to sears, but these three are
the jewel one looks like a great deal since it has two concerts on two discs in the blu ray package.
i dont really know how many times and locations i need to listen to 'who will save your soul' though

I saw this Blu-ray DVD playing at Sears last night. They had probably 2 or 3 dozen on a double display. Had it playing on the Sammy plasma. Of course, the PQ was execllent. I only left because my wife was finished with her visit to the nearby restroom Ahh.... married life!

The packaging is so cheap on these.. Why did this have to get cancelled for wide release.

Is anyone having problems with these? Just picked up the Best of and my Sony 301 won't play it - I get as far as the FBI warning, and then there must be an hdcp problem - I hear about 3 seconds of menu music and then its gone. - just black. Tried googling, looks like I'm the only guy on earth with the problem.

I heard of similar issues with the best of in other forums, they're almost free on ebay. I assume thats the reason.
I might get one anyway for that price.

I'll be interested to take a look at one of these. I saw the Foreigner episode on my local PBS awhile back, and the compression artifacts were so fierce it was laughable. When the strobe lights kicked in, there was pretty much nothing left on the screen but blocks. It would be nice to see it with a high bit rate ...
Edit: Picked up the Foreigner Blu-ray tonight. Suffice it to say, it is NOTHING like what I got on PBS. Wow ... tons of strobe lights and no artifacts that I could see. VC1 video, peaking up around 40 Mb/s in the spots I checked. Great disc all the way around.

fwiw, the Best of ...plays fine on my PS3 - I'd just hoped that I could get it to run on my SONY player, thru my SONY tv, since it is a SONY disk. (sry. )
but one could logically expect a Sony product to play on a Sony system. Couldn't they?
and yes, I even updated the firmware on my BD player - didn't resolve the problem.

My 'best of' disc played fine on my Pan BD-35, no issues. Glad I paid less than $7 shipped, though. Not worth much more as far as I'm concerned...IMHO.

Just wanted to bump this as I picked up the Best Of disc last night and it will not play in my Sony player as well. Strange as the Stevie Nicks, Mike McDonald, Foreigner discs play with no problem at all.
Moral to the story....there are at least two people who can not play this particular disc on the Sony 300 or 301.
